A Chambersburg man was arrested Monday after police say he assaulted two state troopers.

Pedro Barrientos, 34, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, disarming a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, according to court documents.

State troopers arrived on scene Monday at 6:24 p.m. after a report of a domestic incident in Hamilton Township.

Upon arrival, Barrientos, one of the parties involved in the incident, "attacked" the first trooper on the scene, "shoving him backward out of the residence," according to court records.

The trooper fell onto his back out of the residence, with Barrientos on top of him and a "struggle ensued," police say.

Barrientos struck the trooper in the face with a closed fist. The trooper then attempted to utilize his department-issued Taser, but the device was "ineffective during the struggle," according to court documents.

Barrientos "began grabbing for the Taser," cops say, and one of the device's probes became lodged in the troopers boot. As the defendant gained control of the Taser, the trooper deployed an OC spray into Barrientos' face.

After another trooper arrived on the scene, he was able to deploy his own Taser, striking Barrientos, who fell to the ground immediately, according to court records.

Troopers were able to handcuff Barrientos, who continued to "yell and scream, as well as act out violently," cops say.

A third trooper arrived on the scene. Law enforcement attempted to wash Barrientos' eyes out with water to minimize the effects of the OC spray.

The defendant spit on one of the troopers and a spit hood was administered.
