A tornado watch remains in effect around southcentral Pennsylvania after a severe line of storms moved through Franklin, Adams, York and Lancaster counties Monday afternoon.

The tornado watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service State College said a couple of tornadoes are possible along with isolated, ping-pong sized hail and scattered wind gusts.

After a morning with some rain showers, a line of severe storms raced across southcentral Pennsylvania early in the afternoon, bringing heavy rain and high winds. Met-Ed reported as many as 5,000 customers without power in Franklin County, but most had it restored before 3 p.m.

A severe storm warning remained in effect in Lancaster County until 3:45.

The Northeast will experience strong wind gusts ranging from 45 to 65 mph on Monday.

There's also a wind advisory in effect for Franklin, Dauphin, Lebanon,Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties until 8 p.m.

"Strong winds are expected to whip across the Northeast to start the week, threatening hospital tents and power outages as residents across the region work from home," according to Accuweather.

The National Weather Service says wind gusts could reach up to 70 miles per hour in some places. And, with that speed, they're likely to be damaging.
