Ventura police responded to a stabbing outside a liquor store Sunday night that sent two men to the hospital.

The incident was called in around 8:50 p.m. outside the Scandia Liquor & Deli at 10257 Telephone Road, according to Ventura Police Department. The store is in east Ventura, west of Saticoy Avenue.

The 911 caller reported people fighting and a stabbing taking place in the parking lot in front of the liquor store, said Cmdr. Tom Higgins.

Officers ultimately conducted a high-risk stop in the 1400 block of Arrowhead Avenue, south of Telephone, on a vehicle that had left the scene.

Two stabbing victims were in the car, Higgins said. Wounds to their face and arms were not considered life threatening. The victims, both men, were ages 19 and 20. They were transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.

As of 10 p.m., no suspects were in custody and authorities were continuing to investigate.
