Recipe Variations

While playing around with this recipe I also tried a few things you may want to try.

  • For a real treat, you may want to butter the bread and toast it under the broiler for a moment or two before assembling the sandwich.
  • You may also want to switch out the bacon with ham or sausage.
  • Another idea is to swap the gouda cheese for Swiss, Cheddar, or Monterey Jack cheese.

How to Freeze and Reheat this Starbucks Breakfast Sandwich

You may want to make this breakfast sandwich from Starbucks ahead of time. It is a beautiful breakfast to make ahead. If you want to make these ahead of time. You need to make the sandwiches, wrap them in a plastic wrap, then a layer of aluminum foil, and freeze them. I love using those reusable bags for these.

To use, take one out of the freezer the evening before and place it in the refrigerator. You can reheat it in several ways:

  • Microwave the sandwich wrapped in a damp paper towel for about 60 seconds.
  • Air fry it in a 350°F air fryer for about 5 minutes for crispy bread.
  • Warm it in a 350°F oven or toaster oven for about 10 minutes.

I hope you enjoy this bacon gouda sandwich! It is great eaten right after it is made or it is a great breakfast to make ahead and enjoy during the week.

I tried your recommendation on this sandwich and it totally worked, perfectly! I brought home the thawed/refrigerated sandwich last night. Thank you

Um… I think I have had that sandwich in Starbucks, corner of Kingsway and Boundary in Vancouver Canada… What I do notice is they only make so many & when they run out will say they’ve run out and offer you another type of breakfast sandwich (They have a few kinds). What I would like is the recipe for their California? Chicken Wrap. It has artichokes and peppers in it. I am also looking for a recipe for a sandwich we got at Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki, HI, USA while on vacation. It was a shrimp or prawn club with tomato and avocado. We ordered it a few times when we were there, but now they have taken it off their menu. They also have a really good California avocado sandwich and a good Cuban sandwich. We also liked the cheese stuffed wontons. My husband REALLY likes they mojitos. I think they are a bit sweet, but if we could recreate theirs he would be very happy. We like all the food at Roy’s too…tried a bunch of different dishes, never been disappointed. I’m not giving you work… it’s your site after all! LOL. It’ll be nice when we can go out again and actually relax and have a nice meal. Oh… I like IHOP’s Chicken Florentine Crepes too. Great site… I’ve only just found it and am gleefully adding recipes to my folder to try. YUM! Some of them aren’t the copycat ones… some are yours!

Question, do you microwave after it’s assembled? Can you make in advance and freeze and then pop out, thaw and nuke?

    • Stephanie

You could enjoy the sandwich at the temperature it was prepared at. Or you could heat it up if that is how you enjoy your sandwiches. Yes, you could make these in advance and thaw, and nuke if desired.

My son has autism and now needs 3 of these everyday! I’m happy he’s finally eating eggs, can’t wait to try this at home. Thank you for the recipe!!

This recipe is missing a few ingredients. The Starbucks sandwich has Monterey Jack and parmesan in/on (?) the egg patty in addition to the gouda.

    • Melissa Delea

You’re an idiot, I just ordered two of these sandwiches today for me and my daughter. They’re right there in the front.

  9. Tim S

Can I substitute Gouda cheese, or a different type of cheese. My supermarkets around here do not carry Gouda cheese.on cheese something to Gordon cheese substitute.

What is your problem? It may be that YOUR Starbucks doesn’t sell this sandwich, but why bog down this post with your ignorance? You’ve been corrected multiple times. Drop it.
