A second person has died in a crash caused by a homicide suspect fleeing law enforcement

A 23-year-old man died around 6 p.m. Saturday after he was critically injured in an accident caused by a homicide suspect fleeing from officers, according to Milwaukee police.

The car crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. Friday at North 51st and W. Center streets. A 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspect, a 27-year-old man, is wanted for a homicide in Minot, North Dakota, police said. He was being pursued by officers with the U.S. Marshals Service when he ran a red light and collided with another car. 

Milwaukee police were not involved in the pursuit.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.
