USDA reports a very wet month for Wisconsin

March was warm and wet across Wisconsin.

The USDA says all five major weather stations reported at least 50% higher than normal precipitation, and month temperatures were also above average.

Most of the snow cover is gone, but it’s too early to gauge potential damage to small grains and alfalfa, and some producers in northern and central Wisconsin are still harvesting last year’s corn crop.

The maple syrup flow is called moderate.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume April 6th.
