Another wet month for Tennessee

Surplus soil moisture levels declined in Tennessee, but the state saw another wet month in March.

The USDA says parts of the state have reported more than 30 inches of rainfall since the start of the year, leaving soils saturated, impacting crops and livestock.

Cattle conditions are still called mostly good, despite the muddy conditions, but hay and roughage supplies are dwindling and producers hope spring grass can get a good start to the growing year.

54% of pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent, up 19% from February, and 61% of winter wheat is in good to excellent shape, down 8%.
