A coronavirus outbreak has taken over a Carroll County, Maryland, nursing home, according to the county commissioners. Some 66 people at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mt. Airy have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Gov. Larry Hogan said that of the residents who tested positive for the virus, 11 are currently hospitalized and one of the residents has died.

Carroll County Board of Commissioners President Stephen Wantz speaks during a press conference at the Carroll County government office providing an update on the COVID-19 outbreak at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, Sunday, March 29, 2020, in Westminster. 66 patients tested positive for the virus, with one dead, officials said.

"As we have been warning for weeks, older Marylanders and those with underlying health conditions are more vulnerable and at a significantly higher risk of contracting this disease," Hogan said in a statement. "Multiple state agencies are on the scene and working closely with the local health department and the facility as they take urgent steps to protect additional residents and staff who may have been exposed."

The hospitalized residents are being treated at Carroll County Hospital and Frederick Memorial Hospital, according to the Carroll County Health Department.
