Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center reports first coronavirus death

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Friday confirmed its first inpatient death associated with coronavirus.

The deceased patient was in a high-risk category for COVID-19 mortality, according to a release from the hospital.

No information was released on the identity or residence of the patient.

The release said healthcare professionals at the medical center are treating nine inpatients who have tested positive for the virus. They are being cared for in negative-pressure isolation according to coronavirus protocols.

As of midnight Friday, 22 Pennsylvanians have died from complications related to the coronavirus. There are more than 2,218 confirmed cases of the virus.
