First half of April looks dryer and cool

Brownfield ag meteorologist Greg Soulje expects much of the Midwest to be dry and cool the first half of April.

But he says the second half will probably be wetter.

“So (the month) starts good, (but) gets worse. And a range of temperatures from normal to above normal in the western part (of the Midwest). The Plains look to be cooler than average until mid-April before temperatures try to moderate closer to seasonal averages. But we do foresee a return to wetter weather northwest to southeast across the Heartland as we get deeper into the month of April.”

He tells Brownfield the first half of May looks wet for most of the Corn Belt and eastern Plains, with some improvement possible later in the month.
