NEW YORK CITY- Wagamama, anAsian-inspired food retailer, has opened up another New York Citylocation in Midtown at 100 W 55th St. as part of its expansion planto bring more locations to the Northeast.
|With locations in Murray Hilland Nomad, the retailer saw W55th street as the next best location,Robert Cornog, co-ceo and board member of Wagamama USA, tellsGlobeSt.com. "In New York City and Midtown, it's hard to say youcan't find anything you want," hesaid.
|Launched in 1992, Wagamama hasover 200 hundred locations worldwide, mostly in London, where itwas founded. Wagamama is looking to open locations in Washington,D.C. and at some point in Durham, NorthCarolina.
|The new location on W55th is itsthird in New York and will hold up to 185 seats for guests. Typicalfootprints for stores span 4,000 to 5,000 square feet. The groundfloor food retailer has an open kitchen layout, which has becomepopular in recent years.
|With nearby attractions toWagamama on W55th and Sixth Avenue, the restaurant is expected tocapitalize on foot traffic spilling over from Central Park andother Midtown attractions, Cornog said. " We look forward to takingthis venue to a popular center, which is one of New York City'smost popular real estate," he said.
|Wagamama's dining menu featuresAsian-inspired food influences from Japan, China and Korea. In thefirst week of opening, sales have exceeded expectations, accordingto Cornog.
