EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville man has been charged with rape after he allegedly assaulted a woman to whom he had rented a room in his condominium.

The woman told police she knew Michael Todd and had made it clear to him she did not want a sexual relationship with him, according to an affidavit of probable cause for his arrest.

One night, while the victim was intoxicated, Todd asked to make out with her, according to the affidavit. The woman told police she remembers Todd asking her to kiss him but she told him she didn't want to.

She told police she didn't remember anything else about that night and woke up without clothes and with bruising and pain, according to the affidavit. When the victim confronted Todd, he denied having sex with her.

She went to the hospital for a sexual assault exam which showed injuries consistent with rough intercourse, according to the affidavit.

Under the direction of police, the victim messaged Todd about the evening of the alleged assault. Todd responded by giving details of having intercourse that night and said he would buy more drinks so they could do it again.

He has been charged with rape and is currently out on a $2,500 bond. His court case is scheduled for April 2.
