Monty, a two-year-old bull mastiff owned by Christine McElwain, spends his Saturday afternoon listening to the sounds of the Old Dam Community Band in Downtown Newburgh. "Newburgh in Bloom" was in high gear with guided walking tours of gardens in the area; horse-drawn carriage rides; an ice cream social and even entertainment by a classical harpist. McElwain says Monty howls and howls when her husband plays saxophone at home, but he seemed to be enjoying the community band's music.
