Nebraska farmer looks forward to discussing national issues at Commodity Classic

A southeast Nebraska farmer says Commodity Classic is a great host to discuss national ag issues and learn how those issues impact farmers in other states.

Brandon Hunnicutt tells Brownfield the event opens his eyes each year to issues outside of Nebraska, like lock and dam closures.

“It took me a long time to understand this. We get locked in our own little world. Well, what happens to these other areas when they have issues and how can we help them?”

Hunnicutt says issues involving ethanol are top of mind for him as he attends meetings this week.

“I really hope that we come to some clear pathway forward on this to make sure as we are looking at these ethanol issues that we are all on the same page and we are trying to find the best way to expand how we can get more ethanol into more vehicles in the United States.”

Hunnicutt serves on the Nebraska Corn Checkoff Board and National Corn Growers Association board of directors.
