Ohio warmer and wetter than normal in February

A warm, wet February was an issue for some livestock producers in Ohio.

The USDA says temperatures across the state averaged more than three degrees warmer than usual and precipitation was a third of an inch above normal, most of that rain, leading to some concerns about livestock disease and leaving pastures wet and muddy.

72% of the state’s winter wheat crop is in good to excellent condition, down 6% from January, and 99% of Ohio has adequate to surplus soil moisture levels.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume in April.
