Shooting reported on west side of Ventura, but no victim found

Gunfire erupted in west Ventura overnight, although no shooting victims were found, authorities said.

At around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots near the 100 block of East Center Street, according to the Ventura Police Department. The street is on the east side of Ventura Avenue.

Multiple patrol units, including a K-9 police dog, investigated. They found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but did not locate any victims, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Ventura police at 805-339-4452.
