The funeral for 6-year-old Faye Swetlik was held Friday night at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. Watch the service in the embedded video above.

Faye was killed by a 30-year-old neighbor who later killed himself, investigators said earlier this week. She'd been reported missing by her family Feb. 10 shortly after a school bus dropped off the child at her house. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the search before her body was discovered three days later just 150 feet away from her home in the Churchill Heights neighborhood.

Autopsy results released Tuesday show that Faye died by asphyxiation within hours of her disappearance, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

Faye's story traveled across the country, engaging concerned strangers from California to Texas to Florida, according to the Social Media Insights Lab at the University of South Carolina.

Last goodbye:A final act of magic in the life of Faye Marie Swetlik

In the close-knit town where she lived, she's remembered as an always-smiling girl who liked to order a plain waffle at Waffle House that she could dip in butter instead of syrup.
