An 8-year-old girl who is in pain but recovering after being run over by a tractor Sunday near Shippensburg says get-well cards would help cheer her up.

Haley Detman is being treated for injuries to her skull, jaw, ribs, lung, shoulder and upper arm at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, her mom, Melissa Negley told PennLive.com.

The accident happened near Haley's father's home in Southampton Township, Cumberlandn County. The front tire of a tractor ran over Haley's head and chest.

Haley is on a cocktail of painkillers and faces an uphill battle of surgeries and therapy.

A second-grader who loves school, she is expected to miss at least a month of classes at Oak Flat Elementary in Newville.

“One thing she really asked for was cards,” her mom said. “Anyone anywhere can send cards. It puts a smile on her otherwise sad face.”

Send cards to: Haley Deman, 2560 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, Pa. 17015.

There is also a Facebook fundraiser to support the family's medical bills.
