See littoral combat ships being built at Fincantieri Marinette Marine

Shipyard workers consult near the hull of a littoral combat ship under construction Thursday at Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette. Lockheed Martin, which teamed with Fincantieri to win a Defense Department contract to produce the ships, estimates the program supports 7,000 jobs in Wisconsin and Michigan and another 5,500 jobs around the country. Fincantieri estimates it has invested more than $70 million in the shipyard at Marinette. To date, Marinette Marine has completed work on nine Freedom variant ships for the Navy. Marinette Marine also has orders to build two more LCS ships, the USS Beloit and the USS Cleveland.
