Here's when Groundhog Day is in 2020, and what happens if the groundhog sees its shadow

Punxsutawney Phil is back again to predict the weather. 

This all-knowing rodent will appear from his burrow in the ground to let the world know if a long winter or early spring is on the horizon. 

Here's what you need to know for Groundhog Day in 2020.

When is Groundhog Day 2020? 

Groundhog Day is Sunday, Feb. 2. 

Phil makes his prediction around 7:25 a.m. ET at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, which is about 80 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

What does it mean if the groundhog sees his shadow?

As the legend goes, if Phil sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, an early spring is in store.  

Phil doesn't have the best track record, but that hasn't stopped this quirky tradition. This will be the 134th Groundhog Day celebration, according to The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.
