ISP: Oakland City man arrested, accused of sexual misconduct

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. — An Oakland City man has been arrested after police said he had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 16.

Brett Williams, 22, is facing one preliminary charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

The Indiana State Police began a criminal investigation on Jan. 14, according to a news release from the agency.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives came to believe that Williams had sexual contact with the girl between Jan. 1 and Jan. 3, and that he knew she was underage. 

Williams was arrested without incident Saturday and taken to the Gibson County Jail, where police said he's being held on bond.
