Police arrest 'Sloth' wanted in York drug debt assault and robbery

Police had been looking for Joseph Shai'Dann Mehaffie Sr., 26, of the 100 block of East Cottage Place, since the alleged Oct. 3 incident in York.

Officers arrested a man last week — known to some as "Sloth" — on a York City Police warrant for allegedly pistol-whipping and robbing a man over a drug debt in October, according to a news release.

Joseph Shai'Dann Mehaffie Sr., 26, of the 100 block of East Cottage Place, York, was arrested Wednesday on charges of robbery, criminal trespass, terroristic threats and simple assault.

Mehaffie was arraigned on the charges, and later released on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to online court dockets.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing District Judge Ronald J. Haskell Jr. on Feb. 5.

According to charging documents, on Oct. 3, York City Police responded to the 300 block of East King Street and spoke with Christopher Stough, who said he was assaulted by "J."

Police later determined "J" was Mehaffie, who also goes by the name "Sloth."

Stough told police that when he walked out his front door, Mehaffie confronted him over a $1,000 drug debt and pistol-whipped him, the warrant states.

Mehaffie pointed the gun at Stough and threatened to kill him if he did not pay off the debt. Stough later told police Mehaffie forced him to withdraw $1,000 at gunpoint to pay off the debt, the warrant states.
