West York alum Trinity Thomas scores perfect 10, earns No. 1 spot on ESPN Top 10 plays

Trinity Thomas has been off to a great start to her sophomore season competing for the gymnastics team at the University of Florida.

On Friday, Thomas scored a perfect 10.0 on the uneven bars to help Florida defeat LSU 198.375-197.775.

Not only did Thomas receive the first perfect score in her collegiate career, she made news in the the sports world.

The video of her scoring a perfect score made its way to ESPN's Top 10 plays and her perfect score was the number one play.

During the post meet press conference, Thomas talked about what it was like on scoring a perfect 10.

"I knew it was really good and when I landed my teammates ran so fast almost knocked me over, and I was like okay, maybe it was really good," she said. "But I was really excited about it and they were so sweet, it was great."

Florida's total score of 198.375 is the nation's high for 2020. The team is currently 3-0 on the season and the next competition will take place at the University of Kentucky on Friday, Jan. 31st.
