Frustrated dairy farmers freshen AFBF policy

America Farm Bureau has adopted updated policy to support dairy farmers in the fifth-year of limited margins.

Vice President Scott Vanderwal says any way to make the pricing system more efficient nationally would help.

“The lack of profitability has been pretty severe and longstanding for the dairy industry and they’re looking for ways to change the pricing structure in the United States to make it more fair, reduce overlap, duplicity.”

Delegates voted to support the creation of a flexible, farmer- and industry-led milk management system which includes giving individual dairy farmers a voice by allowing them to vote independently and confidentially on rules governing milk prices.
