Through a crash investigation, Simi Valley police found a black 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600 was travelling eastbound on Tierra Rejada Road toward Stargaze Place with the man in the rider's seat and the woman as a passenger. At the same time, a 17-year-old male from Simi Valley was driving a tan 2008 Toyota Camry westbound on Tierra Rejada Road.

As the vehicle was making a left turn onto Stargaze place, the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Camry, according to Cmdr. Steve Shorts.

The two victims on the motorcycle were transported to a local hospital trauma center with serious injuries. The man was said to be in life-threatening condition, according to Shorts.

The driver of the Camry was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation. No arrests were made.

A preliminary investigation found speed may have been a factor in the collision, although investigators were exploring the possibility of other factors before making a final determination.

All lanes of Tierra Rejada Road were closed in both directions for several hours to allow authorities to respond to the crash. The road reopened around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
