Not a 'blockbuster storm,' but a round of snow could be on tap this weekend

It could be another slick weekend in central Pennsylvania.

Meteorologists are watching another storm that could deliver snow or a wintry mix on Saturday. If it comes, it would mark the second weekend in a row for icy conditions.

There's still a lot of uncertainty with the storm at this point, but it looks like temperatures will be warm enough for the precipitation to start as rain Friday afternoon or evening, said Mike Jurewicz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"The tricky part will be on Saturday," he said.

That's when forecasters are not sure whether the rain will change to snow or a wintry mix, Jurewicz said. It will depend, of course, on the temperatures.

AccuWeather.com also is saying that snow could be mixed in with rain this weekend.

The weather company expects temperatures to be around the freezing mark when the precipitation comes in late Friday, said Paul Walker, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.com.

The service predicts temperatures will rise into the low 40s on Saturday, he said.

The storm is expected to come across the country later this week. A second storm is expected to form along the East Coast, and that will have a big bearing on central Pennsylvania, Jurewicz said. 

"It's not looking like a blockbuster storm," he added.

Meteorologists expect to have more details on the storm on Thursday.
