Trump lauds trade successes at 2020 AFBF Convention

President Trump thanked farmers at the 2020 American Farm Bureau Convention in Austin, Texas Sunday night for their support following two back-to- back trade successes this past week, saying he’ll sign the USMCA very soon.

Trump made his way on stage to a standing ovation – the third year he has addressed Farm Bureau members proclaiming the administration’s recent trade successes, “We did it! We did it!” followed by resounding applause.

Trump says the recently inked phase-one trade deal with China is a big win for U.S. agriculture, “Under this landmark agreement, China will now be purchasing $40-$50-Billion dollars of American agricultural products every single year, tripling our agricultural exports to China!”

And, the Senate passage of the USMCA, Trump said, will replace “the terrible” trade deal that was NAFTA, “In a matter of days we will achieve another tremendous victory for the American agricultural businesses when I sign the USMCA into law. So, we just passed it in the Senate and it was a wonderful vote and I sign it very soon.”

Trump said he is proud of the other trade agreements and issues that are being resolved in trade to the benefit of American farmers and ranchers:  Japan, Korea, and expanding markets in India, Vietnam, Brazil and other countries. Trump thanked the farmers and ranchers at the annual convention saying they have stood with him the whole way.
