DACC announces new VP for academic affairs

Community Snapshot: Doña Ana Community College President Mónica Torres recently announced Charles Abasa-Nyarko as the vice president for academic affairs. He was one of five candidates who interviewed for the position following a national search. Abasa-Nyarko has 27 years of professional experience in higher education with 17 of them at the community college level. Most recently, Abasa-Nyarko served as the vice president for the National Curriculum Assessment Program working with the nation of Ghana to assess pre-university student learning. Prior to that, he worked at a number of community colleges across the country. Abasa-Nyarko received his Bachelor of Arts in political science with economics from the University of Ghana, a Master of Arts in political science from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in international studies from the University of South Carolina.The VPAA serves as the chief academic officer for the community college. To submit an item for community snapshot, email photo and information to news@lcsun-news.com.
