A weekend marred by freezing rain and plummeting wind chill values is expected to give way to more manageable workweek conditions as temperatures climb back into the mid-40s.

Temperatures should rise Monday into the upper 20s, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. The forecast calls for it to be a party sunny day with calm winds and low around 18 degrees.

This comes after bitterly cold temperatures throughout the weekend, with Sunday's high reaching around 19 degrees and wind chill values as low as minus nine.

The weather is expected to improve heading into the week as Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have forecasted daytime high temperatures of 33, 39 and 44 degrees respectively.

There is no sign of precipitation in the forecast until Thursday night when there is a 40% chance of rain and snow before 10 p.m.
