New York interior design firm opens showroom in Naples
New York interior design firm Style & Décor has opened a new showroom at 400 Fifth Avenue South, Suite 100 (former space of Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers) filled with fabrics, finishes and custom furniture.
“Style & Décor is a boutique fabrication studio specializing in re-upholstery and custom furniture design,” says founder and interior designer Joanna Wlodarczyk. The firm joins its sister business, J Art Deco, founded by Jarek Gawkowski in Brooklyn, New York in 2002, to bring product designs to life.
The husband-and-wife team bring more than 30 years of industry experience to Naples ranging from bespoke home furnishings, textile production for private homes to storage and display solutions for commercial interiors to boat interior design. The Style & Décor team also creates custom furniture pieces for retail stores and other product displays lined with leather and fabric. The firm contracts with hotels to design and manufacture outstanding bedding and window treatments.
“Custom upholstery requires skilled labor and isn’t well-suited for long production runs of the same items common in overseas factories,” explains Wlodarczyk. “We are custom upholstery and furniture masters who create unique furniture pieces. We do not have standard dimensions, styles or sizes. We take your idea, sketch, rendering or picture and work with you to develop it into an actual piece you,” she promises.
Linking with a highly curated global network of skilled woodworkers, metal fabricators, seamstresses and upholsterers, Style & Decor takes pride in delivering quality pieces with exquisite detailing, heritage craftsmanship and an entirely unique point of view, says Gawkowski.
“We believe our dedication to our craft, combined with old-word European sensitivities and a commitment to maintaining the highest product quality standards sets Style & Decor apart as a furniture industry leader in producing quality home furnishings,” he adds.
A graduate of the University of Warsaw in Poland, Wlodarczyk began her interior design career in a workroom. She met her husband in New York three months after arriving from Poland. He was an upholsterer and knew how to build and design furniture. “He knew what was inside,” says Wlodarczyk. “My husband is an artist at creating upholstered couches, armchairs and beds that help you relax at home after a long day at work.”’
Together the Gawkowskis grew their business quickly and developed a reputation for handing difficult jobs. In 2009, the couple visited Naples and fell in love with area while staying at Waldorf Astoria on vacation. The Clam Pass tram was a favorite of our children Oliver and Luca (ages 10 and 3). After several visits, the family decided to relocate to Naples and selected 5th Avenue South to locate their studio.
“We never looked at any other space,” says Gawkowski. “There is a unique happiness to 5th Avenue South that is contagious and the nearby beach was simply too good to pass up,” he adds.
Style & Décor offers custom upholstery, furniture, lighting accessories as well as antiques and custom pieces from artisans. The company also designs wall coverings and window treatments. Hand made furniture includes resin and wood tabletops with gold lead edges from Poland, handmade metals bases by a New York artist available in gold and bronze, along with a limited collection of cocktail tables, and smart house draperies using a remote to adjust and customize Roman shades. The showroom includes a variety of vases, accessories, candles, pillows, trays, fabrics, wallpapers, and trimmings for indoors and outdoors.
