CA Unaffiliated Voters and Absentee Ballot for Primaries

There is a possible coming Confusion in California, a heavily Absentee-Voting State where Voters have now been Trained on a “Top-Two” State Open Primary, in which Voters can Vote on All Candidates, no matter their Party Registration.

But the Top-Two system doesn’t Apply to the Presidential Primary.

This year, the California Vote is likely to be quite Meaningful in the Presidential Nominating Contest.

Voters Not already Registered in the any Party, will have to Request a Partisan Absentee Ballot in order to Vote in the a Party's Primary.

That’s an Extra Step that Local Election Officials are doing their best to Highlight, but still likely to Cause some Confusion come Election Day.

California Presidential Primary Instructions

- If you are Registered to Vote with a Political Party, you will be given a Ballot for that Party, or use Vote-by-Mail Ballot, in a Presidential Primary Election.

- If you are Unaffiliated with any Party, you may be able to Request the Ballot of One of the Political Parties at the Polls or on your Vote-by-Mail Ballot Request Form. Each Political Party has the Option of Allowing Decline-to-State Voters to Vote in their Presidential Primary.
