A Milwaukee police officer and four people in a car fleeing police were injured when the chase ended in a crash Friday evening, authorities said.

The pursuit began about 8 p.m. after officers tried to pull over a reckless driver near North 24th and West Chambers streets and the driver fled, police said. The car crashed at West Fond du Lac and West North avenues.

Paramedics took the four occupants of the car to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. Medics also transported an officer who suffered a minor injury, police said.
