Deputies search for theft suspects in Newbury Park

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies searched for theft suspects in Newbury Park after a crash on Wednesday night, authorities said.

A vehicle was reported fleeing the scene of a theft  at 8 p.m. at the True Religion store of the Camarillo Premium Outlets, 740 Ventura Blvd. in Camarillo.

Deputies followed the vehicle until it stopped along the Borchard Road off-ramp of southbound Highway 101 in Newbury Park. At 8:17 p.m., a sheriff’s vehicle was involved in a minor traffic collision with a civilian’s vehicle while responding to the scene, authorities said.

Two suspects were arrested near the scene of the crash, authorities said. Two additional suspects fled on foot and were being searched for by deputies. Two ambulances were dispatched to take injured victims to hospitals, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

A helicopter was dispatched to assist with the search of the vicinity for the outstanding theft suspects. By 10:30 p.m., the search was ended without the outstanding suspects being found, authorities said.
