Deadline extended for Dairy Margin Coverage and Market Facilitation Programs
The USDA has extended the deadline for producers to enroll in the Dairy Margin Coverage Program and the Market Facilitation Program to December 20th.
At a stop in Illinois last week, USDA Undersecretary Bill Northey told Brownfield delayed harvest has put more pressure on farmers to finish up 2019.
“Not only the financial aspect of it as they do their year-end taxes and everything else, but we have some crop in the field yet too. We’ve got billions of dollars’ worth of corn still out there.”
Northey says he hopes the additional week will allow farmers to stop by their local USDA office and get enrolled in the important programs.
