Kansas 95, UW-Milwaukee 68: Panthers can’t climb out of deep hole

LAWRENCE, Kansas – UW-Milwaukee held its own against the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks in the second half Tuesday night.

But the Panthers were throttled in the opening 20 minutes.

Kansas started the game on a 17-1 run and cruised to a 95-68 victory.

Devon Dotson had 22 points and nine assists for the Jayhawks. Udoka Azubuike added 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Kansas basically put the game away with a faultless first 12 minutes.

Ochai Agbaji who also had 22 points, hit three three-pointers in the first three minutes. Dotson went on a scoring binge, using cat-quick penetration to get into the lane and knocking down a series of threes

The Jayhawks built a 40-12 lead in the first half and cruised the rest of the way to their 26th consecutive home win.

Milwaukee never gave itself a chance by spotting Kansas a big lead on the road, but it also never gave up. The Panthers scored seven of the first eight points to start the second half and stood toe-to-toe with the Jayhawks the rest of the way.

Darius Roy had 25 points to lead the Panthers (5-5), who actually outscored the Jayhawks most of the second half. Te’Jon Lucas had 11 points.
