Another good week for soybean export inspections

The USDA says soybean export inspections for the week ending December 5th were above what’s needed to meet projections for the current marketing year. The 2019/20 marketing year got underway June 1st for wheat and September 1st for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 313,810 tons, down 21,094 from the week ending November 28th and 135,557 from the week ending December 6, 2018. The primary destinations were Thailand and Mexico. Just over halfway through the 2019/20 marketing year, wheat inspections are 13,017,294 tons, compared to 11,032,063 in 2018/19.

Corn was reported at 481,097 tons, 41,464 more than the previous week, but 406,484 less than this time last year. Mexico and Japan were the main destinations. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 6,531,846 tons, compared to 15,117,606 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,327,042 tons, 248,707 below the week before, but 400,442 above a year ago. China was the biggest recipient, followed by Japan. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 17,298,212 tons, compared to 14,185,018 last year.

Sorghum totaled 45,149 tons, a decrease of 87,718 on the week, but an increase of 28,234 on the year. Mexico and Japan were the listed destinations. 2019/20 sorghum inspections are 630,960 tons, compared to 370,008 in 2018/19.
