Rain is expected to move through Milwaukee and will possibly turn to snow Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will have cold temperatures.

Rain was predicted to hit the Milwaukee area late Sunday night into Monday morning, which could turn to a light snow Monday afternoon as cold air pushes through the area.

The National Weather Service predicts less than an inch of accumulation.

After Monday, the precipitation will move on, but the cold will continue.

"We're going to get some gusty northwest winds Monday night and they’ll linger into Wednesday," National Weather Service meteorologist J.J. Wood said.

Tuesday's high temperatures  are predicted to be in the low 20s, and Wednesday's in the high teens.

"Our normal highs this time of year is 35, so that is quite cool," Wood said. "Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be the coldest period with negative wind chills."

The cold cover should move past the area by Thursday, bringing temperatures back to normal for this time of year.

The rest of the state is bracing for freezing rain and possible snow during the Monday morning commute. Central Wisconsin could see about 1 to 3 inches of snow Monday afternoon and northwestern Wisconsin could see as much as 4 to 8 inches of snow.
