Michigan Foundation for Agriculture invests in bright futures

The Michigan Foundation for Agriculture is expanding its investment in young leaders.

Development manager Kate Thiel tells Brownfield their mission is to enhance the farm to food connection, and they want to build a pipeline of youth and young farmer leaders to do so.

“This year we’ve grown to see 13 collegiate Farm Bureau chapters throughout the countryside in Michigan impacting hundreds of students.”    

The Foundation also supports two mobile FARM science labs that provide STEM-based lessons focused on food and agriculture.

Thiel says this year they’ve launched an Agriculture Art Gallery at the Michigan Farm Bureau State Annual meeting which helped to raise more than $7,500 for the nonprofit.
