The Class AA high school football state tournament final between McQuaid and New Rochelle has been moved to 8 p.m. Saturday.

New York State Public High School Athletic Association officials are concerned about weather reports Sunday for the Syracuse-area and the eastern part of the state. New Rochelle is located in Westchester County.

"You would have a New Rochelle team trying to leave at 7 p.m. on Sunday when the storm is intense or will have put a significant amount on the roads," NYSPHSAA director of communications Chris Watson said. "We are mindful of McQuaid, too.

"It's about the safety of the players, coaches and fans first."

McQuaid (12-0) and New Rochelle (12-0), will play the game a day earlier, indoors at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome.

"We'd like to thank Syracuse University for allowing us to finagle our schedule, allowing us to play right after a Syracuse basketball game," Watson said.
