Temple Grandin to speak at Missouri Livestock Symposium
The Missouri Livestock Symposium in north Missouri celebrates its 20th anniversary soon and the organizer has seen the impact the event has had over the years.
Garry Mathes tells Brownfield their classes each year have been a big draw, and have helped cattle producers adopt new practices, “One of them is, for instance, rotational grazing system here at the symposium. Another session, the same guy, picked up on this. He was from south Missouri and they have made it really work well for them.”
And Mathes says they started featuring wind energy in the early years of the symposium, “There is a big wind farm in northwest Missouri and there’s a big one that’s just materializing around the Kirksville area. There’s about 175 towers that’s going to be going up. We feel that this started from the Missouri Livestock Symposium.”
This year’s keynote speaker, on December 6th at the Livestock Symposium in Kirksville, Missouri, is Temple Grandin after the trade show opens. Classes are offered Saturday, December 7th at the William Matthew Middle School in Kirksville.
