Wintry weather headed to western New York on Sunday could make driving conditions icy and leave a few inches of snow accumulation.

A winter weather warning has been issued of Ontario and Wayne counties. The warning is in effect until 7 p.m. The National Weather Service in Buffalo says that area can expect 6 to 12 inches of snow and up to a quarter of an inch of ice.

The National Weather Service also issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 7 p.m. Monday for Monroe and Livingston counties.

Meteorologists said the area could see "mixed precipitation" with snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches over a 36-hour period. There could also be a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation.

Plan on slippery road conditions, the Weather Service advised.

The threat of inclement weather led to a scheduling change for Class AA state football championship game between McQuaid and New Rochelle. Officials moved the game, which was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Class B title game between Chenango Forks and Schuylerville is still scheduled to kick off at noon Sunday.

Travel through the rest of upstate could also be tricky Sunday.

Slippery roads are expected to the west of Rochester, where a winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Between 1 to 3 inches of snow and a two-tenths of an inch of ice are forecast for Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie, Genesee and Livingston Counties.

The Syracuse-Utica area is under a winter storm watch from Sunday morning to Monday evening.

That region could get up to foot of snow and a light glaze of ice. Driving conditions are expected to be difficult to impossible.

Even tougher travel conditions are expected in the Binghamton, Oneonta and Delhi areas.

Despite cold temperatures and a frigid mix of snow and ice falling down, Scott Seyboth, left, and Patrizio Biondo met up with a small group of friends at Cobbs Hill Park to play ultimate frisbee. The Greater Rochester Area Disc Association plays every Sunday at the park -- no matter the weather, they said.

A winter storm watch runs from Sunday morning through Monday evening in the Binghamton area, where up to 14 inches in snow and a tenth of an inch of ice are expected.

A winter storm warning is in place for the Oneonta and Delhi areas, which could get between 10 and 15 inches of snow and a glaze of ice.
