A Passaic suspect accused of shooting a city resident earlier this month was arrested Tuesday in Newark, authorities said.

Almalik Barnes, 41, faces several charges, including attempted murder and possession of a weapon, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said.

On Nov. 2, Passaic police responded to a report of a disturbance at a business on Main Avenue at 3:14 a.m., the Prosecutor’s Office said. Inside, officers were told a 40-year-old city resident was shot and left. The victim was found nearly two miles away on Elliot Street.

He was taken to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson with a non-fatal injury, the Prosecutor’s Office said. A second victim – a 21-year-old Florida man – was not hurt.

Barnes was identified as a suspect and arrested in the area of Summer Avenue in Newark, the Prosecutor’s Office said. He remained in custody at the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
