DTE: We're hoping to have everyone's power back for Thanksgiving
The relatives have arrived. The turkey is thawed. But there are no lights — or heat.
With 50-mph winds forecast throughout the day Wednesday — and, already by late morning, more than 57,000 DTE customers in nearly 700 neighborhoods are without power — there's a chance that you may be eating by candlelight.
The power company said it has more than 300 crews working on the problem now and is hopeful that the outages will be limited and that it will be able to restore power to customers so it doesn't interfere with cooking and basting your bird.
But in the event power does go out, the company offered this advice:
Be safe: Avoid downed powerlines.
Report it: Let DTE know through the mobile app — or call: 800-477-4747
Monitor progress: Power eventually will be restored. Be patient.
"Obviously, we're hoping to have everyone restored in time for Thanksgiving," DTE spokeswoman Maquia Mann said Wednesday morning. "We will have crews working all day working around the clock to have it back up."
