A 68-year-old Fort Lee woman's leg was pinned under an SUV tire Tuesday after she was hit by the vehicle in the borough near the George Washington Bridge, authorities said.

The woman was walking east along Bridge Plaza near Hoyt Avenue just before 4 p.m., said borough police Capt. Ricky Mirkovic. A 31-year-old woman from Palisades, New York, was driving a 2012 Acura RDX when she hit the victim, who was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

The driver stopped her SUV, but the victim’s leg was caught by the front passenger-side tire, Mirkovic said. Borough police were able to free her leg from the tire. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for head and leg trauma.

No criminal charges were issued to the driver Tuesday, but Mirkovic said she did receive a motor vehicle summons.
