Chinese national indicted

A Chinese national who worked for Monsanto and the Climate Corporation in Missouri has been indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple counts of theft.

The 42-year-old Haitao Xiang was arrested in 2017, the day after he quit his job and was bound for China with a one-way ticket. Xiang had recently accepted a management position with the Chinese Institute of Soil Science.

He is charged with multiple counts related to theft of a key component of the Nutrient Optimizer digital, on-line farming software platform and was intercepted before boarding.

The FBI is investigating the case.
