Michigan ag groups give to area food banks

Michigan ag groups have joined together to help feed hungry families in need this holiday season.

Employees of the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies have purchased a refrigerated semi-trailer for the Food Bank Council of Michigan.

Within the last week employees, members and industry partners also raised an additional $21,000 as part of their Punt Hunger Campaign to provide Michigan turkey, ham, potatoes, and milk to food banks across the state.

The trailer will serve the South Michigan Food Bank, bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to rural areas in eight surrounding counties and was stocked by Michigan Pork Producers and Clemens Food Group who donated 900 pounds of ham to fill the trailer.
