A 13-year-old boy was struck by a car Monday afternoon on Milwaukee's north side.

The boy was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Milwaukee police said it appears that the teen ran out into the street and was struck by the driver.

The driver, who stayed at the scene, was not driving recklessly and had a valid driver’s license, police said.

The accident occurred about 1:45 p.m. in the 2400 block of West North Avenue.

It was the latest of several accidents involving children being struck by vehicles:

  • Last month, two sisters were struck and killed while crossing West Center Street at North 22nd Street by a driver who fled the scene.
  • A hit-and-run motorist struck two children and their parents as they walked to Fiserv Forum earlier this month.
  • On Nov. 4, two boys, 4 and 6, were injured when a car hit them while crossing the street near North Teutonia and West Florist avenues.
  • Three days later, a driver fled after hitting a 13-year-old boy crossing the street in the 4300 block of North 68th Street.
