Road-tripping couch captures traffic cop's attention in Oxnard
An unusual contraption rolling through Oxnard — a roadworthy couch — caught the eye of a traffic cop Friday.
But the stop soon turned into a photo opportunity as Oxnard Police Department Officer Manny Perez climbed aboard the leopard-print sofa and gave it a thumbs-up.
The motorized couch, complete with a lamp, coffee table and potted plants (a fern and sunflower), belongs to automotive personality Edd China. The British gearhead was previously on the “Wheeler Dealers” car show and has authored a book, “Grease Junkie.”

China had taken the vehicle, which he calls the “Casual Lofa,” from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in early November for the auto industry’s SEMA Show.
After Friday’s encounter, the Oxnard Police Department posted pictures on social media of Perez’s turn aboard the traveling piece of furniture, saying it had come from San Francisco and was en route to Malibu.
By Saturday, the road-tripping couch, shown in one Twitter video comfortably seating three adults behind its Union Jack tabletop, had left Ventura County in the dust and arrived at a car gathering in Orange County.
