Missouri crop land values mostly higher

The value of Missouri’s crop land was mostly higher in 2019.

A web-based survey by University of Missouri Extension showed a $204 year to year increase in average value for good non-irrigated crop land to $5,421 per acre, a $634 jump for good irrigated land to $6,148, and $259 rise in pastureland to $3,174 per acre.

Extension says demand for land is strong and rental rates were down modestly.

The Bootheel had the highest ranked crop land values in the state at $7,090 per acre for good non-irrigated land and $7,353 for good quality irrigated, while the highest value for pastureland was along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

62% of respondents intend to farm the land, with 27% either renting it out and 10% using the land for non-farming purposes.

75% of the responses were from lenders, 12% were farmers, 9% were rural appraisers, and the rest came from other occupations.
