Good week for wheat export inspections

The USDA says soybean and wheat export inspections during the week ending November 7th were more than what’s needed weekly to meet projections for the 2019/20 marketing year. The current marketing year started June 1st for wheat and September 1st for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 528,875 tons, up 234,904 from the week ending October 31st and 174,687 higher than the week ending November 8th, 2018. The leading weekly destinations were China and the Philippines. At this point in the 2019/20 marketing year, wheat inspections are 11,459,833 tons, compared to 9,309,375 in 2018/19.

Corn was reported at 560,105 tons, 276,401 more than the previous week, but 597,824 less than a year ago. The top destinations were Mexico and Colombia. Just over two months into the marketing year, corn inspections are 4,321,316 tons, compared to 11,138,340 this time last year.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,331,631 tons, down 150,813 from the week before and 25,702 lower than last year. China and Mexico were the main destinations. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 10,886,450 tons, compared to 9,978,438 a year ago.

Sorghum totaled 25,486 tons, a decrease of 41,562 on the week, but an increase of 13,545 on the year. The listed destinations were South Africa and Mexico. 2019/20 sorghum inspections are 401,016 tons, compared to 171,685 in 2018/19.
